Lawn Spraying and Fertilizing

Petri’s offers a few different types of services to customers who want a green, healthy, insect free lawn. There is the TLP (Total Lawn Program), which is an all inclusive lawn-sprayingtreatment plan, and the General Lawn Program, for those customers who just need assistance with insects and diseases in their lawn. We have add on services for those homeowners who have pets and need additional treatment for fleas and ticks. Many of our customers also have Petri’s feeding and treating their trees and shrubs for insects and disease as well. Below is an explanation of how each service protects and maintains lawns and/ or trees and shrubs in South Florida.

The Total Lawn Program

The TLP (Total Lawn Program) is an all inclusive lawn treatment program that includes protection against harmful insects and diseases of the lawn, fertilization and broadleaf weed control.

On six scheduled visits throughout the year a thorough inspection of the lawn is performed. A determination is made as to what treatment or application should be made to insure a healthier, greener lawn.

Insecticide treatment for harmful insects such as chinch bugs, armyworms, sodweb worms, and fire ants may be performed if deemed necessary. A fungicide application will be done if a fungus condition exists. Throughout the year a liquid fertilization may be applied when the turf is in need of additional nutrients. For those customers whose main concern is fire ants, at least once a year a granular insecticide will be broadcast over the entire lawn. If a TLP customer desires flea or tick control it can be added, which will then require spraying additional areas on the exterior, such as sandy areas, the base of shrubs, and up on trees. Granular fertilization and herbicide application will be performed in cooler months to feed the lawn and help in the control of broadleaf weeds.

Petri’s technicians are trained to recognize most lawn conditions typical of South Florida St. Augustine turf and are able to determine what needs to be done to correct a situation. Petri’s techs. are expected to leave a doorhanger with information as to what service was performed and any other information that would help the customer in properly caring for his lawn. As with as all Petri’s services, the TLP is guaranteed for free retreatment should a problem occur inbetween our regularly scheduled services.

The General Lawn Program

The General Lawn Program is for customers who just want their lawn treated for harmful insects and fungus. Like the TLP, we are on schedule to service the lawn every other month, six times a year. A power sprayer is used to apply an insecticide to the lawn for control of chinch bugs, armyworms, sod web worms, and fire ants. If a customer has a pet and would like to be treated for fleas or ticks, this service may be added. Our service technicians will also be looking for fungus conditions such as brown patch or gray leaf spot. If a condition like this exists, a fungicide will be applied.

Recommendations for Homeowners

The watering and mowing practices will have a direct impact on the condition of any lawn. Improper watering and mowing methods will contribute to a lawn in a stressed state and therefore make it more susceptible to disease, insects, and weeds. Our service technicians will advise customers as to the proper watering, mowing, and fertilizing practices for their lawn and will leave a doorhanger each time explaining what service was done that day. If a customer should notice a problem in the lawn inbetween our regularly scheduled visits, we will return for free retreatment.
